About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Albuquerque, Leroy's New Mexican Food is a cherished gem for anyone craving authentic New Mexican and Mexican breakfast delights. Located at 1209 Old Coors Dr SW, this cozy eatery radiates a warm, unpretentious charm that perfectly complements its vibrant and rich menu offerings.

The cuisine at Leroy's effortlessly captures the bold flavors and comforting heartiness that define New Mexican cooking. Whether it's your first visit or a returning visit, the aroma of simmering red and green chiles immediately awakens your senses, inviting you to indulge in dishes that are both traditional and soul-satisfying. Standout menu items like the Carne Adovada Breakfast and the ever-popular Stuffed Sopapillas come stuffed with generous portions of carne adovada, beans, or hamburger – each bite bursting with layered spices and slow-cooked tenderness.

Breakfast lovers will find themselves spoiled for choice with specialties like the Huevos Rancheros served with homemade tortillas or sopas, the spicy yet balanced Chicharron & Eggs, and the hearty Breakfast Burrito with Sausage. For those seeking lighter bites or snacks, the basket of Chips & Salsa is a must-try, praised for its perfectly balanced, zesty salsa that leaves a pleasing kick lingering on the palate. The Frito Pie and Bean Navajo Taco showcase the regional influences and comforting textures that define the restaurant’s culinary style.

There’s an undeniable authenticity and attention to detail here; sauces are rich yet not overpowering, spices are vibrant but never overwhelming, and every dish feels as if it were lovingly prepared in a home kitchen. True to New Mexican tradition, red chile holds a special place at Leroy’s, with fans like “Red L” enthusiastically highlighting its flavorful kick – a delicate balance of heat and deep, smoky undertones that elevate every plate.

The dining atmosphere mirrors the food’s honest character. While the space itself is modest and unpretentious, the friendly, knowledgeable staff create a welcoming ambiance that keeps guests coming back. Even during busy times, as noted by Bernadette Vigil, service remains attentive and warm, ensuring a genuine, homey experience. The lively chatter and the scent of freshly brewed coffee, priced just right at $1.85, add to the charm, inviting diners to linger over their meals.

Leroy’s has its quirks too – some diners, like “Kandy Mama,” have noted the cooler temperatures inside the restaurant, a minor inconvenience that hardly overshadows the exceptional food. A few have also remarked on inconsistencies in the chile’s texture, but these moments are rare and balanced by overwhelmingly positive praise for the menu’s depth and freshness.

For those seeking a true taste of New Mexico’s culinary heritage, Leroy’s New Mexican Food stands out as a dependable and flavorful destination. Whether you’re starting your day with the hearty Bacon and Egg Special, savoring the rich, saucy Carne Adovada Enchiladas, or grabbing a quick Tamale paired with beans and rice, you’ll find each bite offers a comforting embrace of genuine southwestern flavor. Leroy’s isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a beloved local experience that invites you to slow down, savor the layers of spice and tradition, and leave with a satisfied appetite and a warm heart.

The food here is amazing! I've only come in here a handful of times but their food is always so good. My favorite is the chicharron. I get them with eggs and red Chile. The Chile here is so flavorful and it has a good kick. I always favor green Chile in all the restaurants I go to but here I love the red. Give this place a try, they're not open all day so they have specific hours and usually there is alot of people because the food is very good but it's worth the weight. Also, service here is great, staff is always so attentive and nice. If you read my review please hit the like button..thank you.

The salsa was on point. Fast friendly service. Our only complaint is that it was freezing we ate with our jackets on.

This place is soooo good! Came for the first time and was blown away by how good the food and service was. It was packed and there was only 2 servers and they still provided excellent service. The food was all home made and soooo tasty! I had the huevos rancheros. 10/10 recommend !

I had the opportunity to visit Leroy‘s New Mexican food this afternoon. luckily, I got there right before they closed at 2 o’clock. The place was busy and the staff was on point. I ordered the stuffed beef soap appears smothered with Christmas red and green chili and Papa’s with beans. This was a man’s size plate for sure. The Wife got two beef tacos, beans, and papas with a side of red chili. I also got sopapillas and a tortilla. I was not disappointed same great food as always if not better can’t wait to go back and get breakfast next time.
